Did I Just Say That?

‘’ Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.’’ I’ve been searching for the author of this famous quote but I failed. I admire that ANONYMOUS author for saying this words but I personally think that for the most of us this isn’t true, because in reality words are like swords .It cannot literally cut you into pieces but deep down it can terribly leave stain on our soul. I think the quote could have been more realistic if it stated like this, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but WORDS hurt a lot more than getting beat.”

I believe that the words we utter have the power over life and death; it can build enough high esteem as high as the clouds but destroy to the point of ending a life. At one point in our lives I believe that majority of us have been hurt by the words spoken to us and we profoundly remember it up to now. Maybe you already forgiven the person, but you remember vividly the WORDS that he or she says about you (believe me, I know!).If words can only kill, I have died many times by now. My point is, we all need to be more responsible in the way we speak and what kind of words do we speak unto others because you never really know when your words can have an impact to somebody’s life.

So, be careful in every word you say, sometimes we speak spontaneously and we forgot how to pause. And at the end of it, you just caught yourself asking, “Did I just say that to him or to her? But it’s too late because the damage has been done before you realize it.

Today, I encourage you to choose your words wisely; speak the truth, speak blessings, and speak hope! Choose to speak LIFE with the words you say! Just what like the proverbs say, “Reckless words pierce like a sword but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
